Bifrangi: Precision Mechanical Machining

Born of the vision of Francesco Biasion, Bifrangi brings to fruition a continuously evolving model: a highly efficient and accurate production system, acquired, transformed and redesigned to fit a cutting-edge industrial logic.

Bifrangi’s core activity is hot forging, alongside precision mechanical machining and the production of stainless steel and carbon steel flanges.

From the first modest presses, we leverage today state-of-the-art plants, exemplified by the installation of a new 8000t vertical press and a Hatebur HM75 XL. Starting from standard machines, Bifrangi redesigns and builds moulding plants that are tailored to its discrete needs.
Some technical solutions made by Bifrangi have become industry standards.

A bit of history

  • 1800

    The history of Bifrangi begins in the 19th century, in Mussolente, a town in the Veneto foothills, one of Northern Italy’s economically bustling areas.
    It is then that the Biasion Family, the company’s owner to this day, began steel processing in accordance with classic blacksmith forging methods: anvil, mallet and grinding wheel were the only tools used until the mid-1900s, to manufacture agricultural tools and tools for bricklayers, carpenters and joiners.

  • 1970

    The industrial transformation of Bifrangi began after the Second World War, following the production of the first presses, and continue for the next 50 years, eventually turning the Company into a world leader in the production of flanges, gears, hubs and other parts for the automobile, agricultural machinery and other industries. The current development phase of Bifrangi began in the 1960s. Indeed, it was at that time that the transition from the moulding of gears, engine parts for motorcycles and agricultural machinery, and the production of the first flanges began. In the following years and up to 1980, Bifrangi also began manufacturing steel flanges and fittings.

    1970

  • 1980

    Since 1980, with its transfer to the current headquarters, and, in particular, since 1985, with the inclusion of automatic machines for large quantities in its production cycles, the Company has been manufacturing wheel hubs, gears and special pieces.

  • 1990

    In the 1990s, with the expansion of the production area, more and more advanced machinery was installed, which allowed the production of high-quality items. The new mechanical processing lines have gradually taken the place of old lathes, and the automotive department has become the core business of the Company.

    1990

  • 2000 - oggi

    From the end of the last century to the present, Bifrangi has continued its production evolution to adapt to the increasingly high standards required by its customers. The innovation involved all corporate departments, from moulding lines to mechanical processing, mould design and quality control. Looking at the list of customers, it is clear how all the major world producers turn to Bifrangi for the realisation of their products.

    Currently, Bifrangi is a sought-after and appreciated partner of numerous international industries, thanks to the attention paid to solving energy and environmental problems and, above all, to its production standards at the highest level.

Bifrangi: a company as big as an ideal

Bifrangi deals with precision mechanical machining, is headquartered in Mussolente, in the province of Vicenza, and has about 460 employees, most of whom are specialised technicians.
Top Management made most efforts over the years towards the rationalisation of work process and the integration of the skills and specialisations of its human resources as much as possible. This has led to a natural fluidity of the work cycle and to the creation of many professionals who work in synch to give the same complete technical, production and commercial response to customers. These skills and sense of responsibility have allowed an ever greater attention to quality and resourcefulness in solving technical problems. It is a development that has made it possible to carry out in-house maintenance, design and construction of machines for precision mechanical processing, up to the patent of a new hot cutting system that enables significant energy savings, while solving all ecological problems generally engendered by these types of plants.

Quality is the point of arrival of every Bifrangi production; only the optimisation of the corporate organisation, synergistically integrated with design skills, allows complying with international quality standards.

The design phase, of both moulds and equipment, is therefore extremely important. The final quality controls are rigorous and diversified: the analysis laboratories allow performing tests concerning mechanical resistance, traction, and control of texture and chemical components of alloys.

Design initiative, production rationality and rigorous analysis have allowed Bifrangi to obtain the most important international type approvals by TÜV and SKF, as well as by major automotive industries, such as the Audi-Wolkswagen group, and ISO 9002 standards.

Bifrangi owns a vast fleet of machines for mechanical processing that allows obtaining products in a variety of finishing stages, from raw moulded to finished pieces.

The work cycle includes:

1) Mould preparation;
2) Moulding;
3) Treatments;
4) Finishing.

The high quantity of pieces produced and the required quality require a large number of high-performing machines. In every sector, from presses to treatment furnaces, from lathes to cutters and complex automatic molding systems, Bifrangi has at its disposal all that today’s best technology offers.

The hot forging equipment, which includes presses with tonnage ranging between 1600 and 6500 tons, coupled with induction heating furnaces and hot cutting is particularly rich. The need to produce small pieces in large quantities and to reduce production costs required the inclusion of systems for automatic molding.

The “Hatebur”, “National” and “Sakamura” type machines installed allow considerable productions with very high quality standards and pieces produced from 0.3 to 4.5 kg in weight.
The multiplicity of market requests demands an ever greater completeness in the instruments and processes supplied. Following this trend, Bifrangi has multiplied its production offers by extending the type of processing also to sandblasting, heat processing, coating and more complex finishing processes. The hot forging plants allows producing about 60,000 tons of steel parts per year.
The Company currently manufactures about 2000 items of many different sizes, and with weights ranging from 0.3 kg to 150 kg. Thousands of processed pieces leave our warehouses every day and are distributed across the world market, especially in Europe and the United States of America.
